Austin Osman Spare Tarot Deck Kickstarter Success!

Hello There,

We're incredibly excited to announce that we have now cleared our Kickstarter funding goal of £99,000 to produce both a facsimile edition of Austin Osman Spare's legendary tarot deck, alongside a new edition of our long out of print book Lost Envoy: The Tarot Deck of Austin Osman Spare, edited by artist and writer Jonathan Allen.

We've been completely humbled by the generosity and support of our backers, and wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for taking the time to help us realise this project.

We've now decided to add a number of stretch goals to the campaign.

1st Stretch Goal: £109,000

If we hit £109,000 we’ll include an extremely special publication with all orders of the facsimile tarot deck and Lost Envoy book together (ie not if you pledge for just one of the items) :

The authors of the first edition of Lost Envoy were unable to determine a single source from which Spare drew his Minor Arcana card meanings. To our delight, in March this year American oracle-card scholar John Choma identified this missing publication.

Those who pledged for the book and deck together will receive a facsimile reproduction of this extremely rare 70+ page cartomancy manual. The book will be reverse-bound alongside a facsimile of The Tarot, by S. L. MacGregor Mathers (1888), the source from which Spare assigned his Major Arcana card meanings. Both books will be introduced by John Choma.

As you’ve probably noticed, we won’t be revealing the title of Spare’s source book – which is a largely forgotten text – until publication: the revised edition of Lost Envoy will incorporate John Choma’s findings, but we want it to be a surprise.

2nd Stretch Goal: £119,000

At £119,000 We’ll incorporate a high-quality cardboard box designed to hold the tarot deck, Lost Envoy (both HB and PB editions), and the bonus publication.

The project is still very much live, and you can take a look at what's on offer here!

We'll be in touch with more updates as and when they happen, but for now...

All the best, and thanks once more,

Jamie & Mark
