LEIGH BOWERY & FRIENDS

Hello There,

Hope all's well.

Just in time for the major Leigh Bowery! retrospetive that opens at Tate Modern, London, this week, we're incredibly happy to announce a new collaboration between Strange Attractor Press, Jonny Trunk and Richard Torry.... Bat Girls & Acid Boys: The Spontaneous Drawings Of Leigh Bowery & Friends.

This collection of over 100 previously unseen collaborative drawings—produced by Bowery and many significant players from London's Clubland—is tantalisingly NSFW and available to order directly from Strange Attractor Press now... with copies available to buy from Tate during the exhibiton, and appearing through all good book shops shortly.

Outrageous exquisite corpses from the heart of London's clubland.

The wild years of the 1980s and early 1990s, when central London was a clubbers' paradise... a circle of young, queer friends, including the celebrated Australian designer, performer, musician, and provocateur Leigh Bowery and his Minty bandmates, would get together at Richard Torry's Soho flat before hitting the town.

To pass the time, the troupe would sometimes make “exquisite corpses”, employing a technique popular with the Surrealists to create compound images of often outrageous characters.

Collected here for the first time are over 100 of their wild creations, acerbic observations and beautiful monsters.
